Lunch can be a dangerous meal for those trying to stick to the diet. Lunch can be an easy time to fall off, because often you are in a rush, outside of your house, and subject to the whims of whatever is available and fast. During the work day, things can be hectic, and often it is easier to hit the drive thru rather than be mindful about what you are eating. But a Kaufmann Diet lunch is easier than you think, and no matter where you are, it can be easier to procure a meal that is on your diet than you likely thought.
Certainly, it is best to make your own food at home as much as possible. For those that are not home during the day, this certainly necessitates some planning, and carrying your lunch around with you. Even if this is out of reach for you, fret not; it is totally possible to eat within the Kaufmann Diet framework when you are on the go.
Here is a way to focus your lunch needs when you are trying to decide what eat.
The Salad
Greens, vegetables, protein, healthy dressing. Salads are an easy way to get a filling portion of nutritious foods that won’t wreck your diet. Obviously, salad dressings are the weak link here. Focus on simple dressings like healthy oils (olive oil, avocado oil, macadamia nut oil), apple cider vinegar, herbs, spices, lemon juice, and some stevia if necessary. Salads are great whether you are at home or on the go.
The Bowl
Bowls are like salads but less… leafy. Start with a protein, like chicken, steak, or whatever you prefer. Add things like quinoa, roasted vegetables, avocados, and toss with a little olive oil. Or, get creative and come up with your own Kaufmann Diet Sauce. Season generously with herbs and spices.
The Stir Fry
Stir fries are like bowls, but all cooked in the same place. Skip the noodles and the rice, and fill it with vegetables and protein. Skip the soy sauce, but coconut aminos are a good option, as well as herbs, spices, and healthy oils.
The Takeout
Any of the above meals mentioned are usually not too hard to find if you can’t cook for yourself. Many restaurants exist where you can build your own bowl, salad, or stir fry. Furthermore, many fast food chains are more than accommodating when you order “bun-less burgers”; while the odds of them being grass-fed beef and organic vegetables are slim, this is still a good option when you need a quick, Kaufmann Diet-friendly lunch.
Leftovers Are Your Friend
Cooking in bulk is a good way to make sure you’ve got protein ready for a quick lunch. Leftover chicken or steak or fish is a good foundation for a salad or a bowl that can be quickly thrown together.
