No matter how you slice it, once you begin The Kaufmann Diet, you are going to be spending more time in the kitchen than you otherwise would be. Whether you are a seasoned chef or a just starting out in the kitchen, there are a few gadgets that will make cooking more fun, make your life easier, and help you cultivate a good diet that will support your health. Some are larger investments, but some cost very little; regardless, the investment in your healthy kitchen ultimately will be an investment in your own health.

Juicer

Carrot juice is a staple for The Kaufmann Diet; carrots are loaded with the potent anti-fungal, falcarinol. Additionally, carrots are loaded with nutrition––as are many other fruits and vegetables. Fresh juice is a great way to concentrate the nutrition inherent in fruits and vegetables. Think greens like kale and chard, and vegetables like celery or carrots, and spices like ginger, turmeric, or even garlic. These foods are loaded with anti-fungal nutrients and medicinal nutrition. Juicers vary in price, but a good entry level juicer will set you back less than $60. Be sure to only juice permitted fruits and vegetables.

Blender

While a juicer extracts juice and removes the pulp and fiber, blenders simply pulverize entire fruits and vegetables. They are great for making smoothies, which are great for times you are on-the-go, and you get the added benefits of all the fiber that a juicer would eliminate. Higher-end blenders, like the Vitamix, can even be used to make soups and fresh nut-butters––both great options on The Kaufmann Diet. Blenders range from less than $50 all the way to several hundred dollars.

Iron Skillet

A good, well-seasoned iron skillet is a must have for any kitchen. They are affordable, usually around $20-$30, and once they are seasoned, they are close to using a non-stick pan without the dangerous, unhealthy chemicals inherent in many non-stick products. Plus, you’ll have the added benefit of adding small amounts of iron to your food. Iron skillets are great for cooking meats, sautéing vegetables, or building one-pan recipes that are great for The Kaufmann Diet.

Water Purifier

Fresh water should be your beverage of choice on The Kaufmann Diet. Staying hydrated is extremely important for many aspects of health; it is recommended by many practitioners that you should drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day. Most of us do not get nearly this much. While we all have running water in our homes, we’ve learned that the quality of the water we have access to is not always high. A quality water purifier goes a long way. These can be attachments for sinks in your kitchen or external devices that purify water. Ideally, a reverse osmosis system for your entire home would be ideal, but these constitute a significant investment.

Garlic Press

Garlic is one of the most potent anti-fungal foods available. Garlic is known to possess a myriad of health benefits, but it also comes with the added benefit of being being delicious. You should include garlic in your cooking as often as possible for it’s medicinal qualities, but also because it adds delicious flavor to foods. A garlic press is an easy way to crush garlic and add it into your food.
