Support Your Skin From The Inside Out

Support Skin from the Inside Out

Support your skin from the inside out with a healthy lifestyle.

Everyone wants to have beautiful, healthy skin. Healthy skin signifies youth, vitality and overall health, but many people struggle with skin problems, which can damage your self confidence. Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to support your skin.

Most people’s skincare regimen focuses on products applied directly to the skin, while also including practices like avoiding too much sun. We have written about how sunlight can be beneficial for the skin in responsible doses, and how to protect your skin from damage when you’ll be out in the sun too long. And as far as products go, there are many companies out there providing natural, healthy, safe and effective products to support your skin.

Skin health, however, is more than just topical, and there are some things you can (and should) do to support your skin from the inside out. Obviously, it is best to not smoke and avoid alcohol or other unhealthy habits. However, common sense aside, what goes into your body can help your skin’s health and radiance.

Fungus, Diet, and Your Skin

Diet is a key part of maintaining overall health, including healthy skin. But just what kind of diet is best for supporting the health of the skin?

Interestingly, Doug Kaufmann spent years working in dermatology clinics; what he found was that many patients with horrible skin problems responded favorably to an anti-fungal diet and anti-fungal medication. Not only did skin problems clear up, but many coexisting health problems cleared up as well.

It might be beneficial to try an anti-fungal diet, such as the Kaufmann Diet, when trying to support healthy skin. The Kaufmann Diet eliminates foods know to feed a fungal infection and foods known to be contaminated with fungal poisons known as mycotoxins. The Kaufmann Diet is rich in nutrition and foods known to support healthy skin, such as fatty fish, walnuts, avocados, bell peppers, tomatoes and broccoli. The Kaufmann Diet may be among the best diets for those concerned with skin health.

Vitamins and Minerals For Skin Health

There are a number of vitamins and minerals you should try to include in your regimen. Likely, if you are eating The Kaufmann Diet, you are getting more than enough nutrition via your diet to support your skin, but these nutrients are thought to be beneficial for skin health:

    • Vitamin C
    • Vitamin E
    • Beta Carotene
    • Zinc
    • Selenium

Getting the recommended daily amount all of these nutrients (at the very minimum) is a good place to start when supporting skin health. If you do not get enough of these nutrients in your diet, it is possible to supplement with them, but always consult with your doctor before beginning a new supplement regimen.

Hydrate

Getting enough water is important for maintaining health, but it is especially beneficial for skin health. Recommendations range from eight 8oz glasses of water per day to half your body weight in ounces every day. Regardless, you should drink if you are thirsty and stick to drinking water primarily; for those on the Kaufmann Diet, you are already drinking water as your main source of hydration.
