You simply cannot make this up. The University of Montreal reviewed 26 studies and found that taking “immune boosting supplements such as vitamin C, vitamin D and zinc do not lessen your chances of dying from COVID-19”. Who pays for this kind of ridiculous research? Don’t they have better things to do with their time? First, understand that researchers have confirmed that those who suffer from COVID-19 are deficient in each of the nutrients listed.
VITAMIN C: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7848027/
VITAMIN D: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33342439/
Zinc: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32920234/
You may note that those deficient in Zinc “developed more complications, and the deficiency was associated with a prolonged hospital stay and increased mortality.” The other papers state that using a nutrient that one was deficient in may be a good thing! WHY NOT? Not one of these papers concluded that reversing the nutrient deficiency cured COVID-19, so where does this nonsense come from?
Second, please be careful out there! Such papers are published for a reason. I’ll never forget in 1993 when the FDA commissioner, David Kessler stated “Steps are necessary to ensure that the existence of dietary supplements on the market does not act as a disincentive for drug development.” Now perhaps you better understand that medical history repeats itself over and over again thereby hoping to incentivize prescription drug taking over supplements.
I believe that sometimes drugs can be lifesaving….and so can supplements! Be honest with your doctor and tell him/her where your true interests lie when it comes to swallowing pills.
