A new paper (1) A new Australian study should excite everyone reading it, especially if they pump iron regularly or run marathons in order to stay healthy. “The researchers also found that a “minimal dose” of 3-4 minutes of vigorous activity per day was associated with a 17% reduced risk of total cancer incidence,… while 3-7 minutes daily was associated with a 28% reduced risk of physical activity-related cancer incidence.”
This means that over 25% of us can reduces our risk of all types of cancer by simply running in place in their living rooms for 240 seconds! YOU CAN DO THIS!
On my 50th birthday I ran the “White Rock” Texas ½ Marathon, which is 13.1 miles, and it took me 2 hours and 8 minutes. At that time, I jogged regularly believing that I could prevent my dad’s heart disease predisposition by doing so. Thus far, I have, but I’ve always believed when it came to exercise, more was better. I could have easily spent 4 minutes jogging in-place in the backyard every day, but that wouldn’t have made my 50th birthday very memorable! “How was your 50th, Doug?” “Great, thanks! I did a “Texas 2-step dance alone for 4-minutes!”
Most of us now drink filtered water and many of us try to eat clean foods, yet regular exercise isn’t yet on the list. I have a simple suggestion for those of you who hesitate to do 4-minutes of exercise each day; Park your car down the street from your home or office and walk briskly to it M-F. On Saturday, walk briskly while mowing the yard. On Sunday, thank God for such a huge parking lot at the church! Use all of it!
Hope this helps you! Seems like a small price to pay for a 28% reduction in your cancer risk.
