Last week, this research was published and some of you forwarded the link to me Here is the key paragraph in this article. “We already know that bacteria, in addition to genetic and dietary factors, plays a major role in causing Crohn’s disease,” explained Dr. Mahmoud Ghannoum, who is a professor and director of the Center for Medical Mycology at Case Western Reserve University and lead author of the study. “Essentially, patients with Crohn’s have abnormal immune responses to these bacteria, which inhabit the intestines of all people. While most researchers focus their investigations on these bacteria, few have examined the role of fungi, which are also present in everyone’s intestines.” Let me just say that Dr Ghannoum is a brilliant researcher. He and I have communicated several times this year and I remain so impressed with his work. In 1999, I wrote this prior to publishing it in The Fungus Link; “The saddest part of these debilitating gut diseases remains that many gastroenterologists have absolutely no idea that there exists a fungal pathology in many cases of Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. By treating a pathogen (fungus) rather than a disease, it is very likely that many patients with gut diseases will get better faster.” In the past few years, fungal infections have been implicated in chronic sinusitis, asthma, Alzheimer’s and now Crohn’s. Why not cancer? This year alone I have spoken at 4 cancer conferences on the fungus link to cancer. There is an indisputable link and I am trying to teach doctors. In my opinion, it should be mandatory to prescribe antifungal medications, The Kaufmann Diet and proper supplements to all cancer patients. Between my work and Dr Ghannoum’s work lies 17 years. Must we wait another 17 years before the following headline is finally published? Fungus found inside humans identified for first time as key contributor in cancer The fungus/mycotoxin link to cancer, I assure you, will be discovered and published, by someone other than me, before too long. If you have Crohn’s disease, thank Dr Ghannoum by taking his article to your gastroenterologist and ask for an antifungal medication and his approval to begin The Kaufmann Diet. Be proactive in your recovery. But what if you have cancer? Unfortunately, the road to cancer recovery forks. Know that choices exist, but unless he has attended one of my lectures, your oncologist is unaware of them. At very least, this article provides both knowledge and hope. |
