Recently, our FDA approved a new drug for Alzheimer’s disease. They should not have approved it (1), but they did. Politics and money aside, shame on them. At least 3 of the FDA judges had enough integrity to quit their post after it was approved.
Now comes a new article from NPR (2) that our FDA has been up to some questionable drug approvals in the recent past, and this should upset all of us, especially those who take FDA approved drugs.
Reading this article will tell you everything you need to know about both drug companies and politics. I hate to be so bold, but we are pretty much on our own when it comes to making medical decisions. Get a diagnosis, then study like you never have! It seems anymore that if the disease doesn’t kill you, the treatment for the disease just might. Honestly, it is upsetting that I even have to mention this, but as we have learned, drug companies and politicians are present in the exam room far more than ever before. 40 years ago I learned that regular exercise, a PROPER diet, stress reduction and the RIGHT supplements would go a long way to keep me out of the exam room!
