When a physician hears you say that you have a “fungal disease,” they immediately think you may be dying! Systemic fungal diseases (bloodstream), unlike local fungal diseases (ringworm or nail fungus) can be life threatening and they know that, if they have studied tropical microbiology. In third world countries, people die of fungal diseases commonly. Given a strong immune system and the proper diagnosis and treatment, even systemic fungal conditions are treatable.
