Life Changes & Lots of Traveling

Michael Smith Blog - Know The Cause Hey KTC blog readers! I bet you thought I had disappeared for good; it has been quite a while since I visited the KTC blog. Well, I haven't jumped off the face of the earth or gone on a soul searching wander through the desert (although that sounds like it would be a good excuse for a camping trip…), but I have moved away from dear old Dallas. I'm now a resident of the Lone Star State's capitol city Austin; I have since returned to the University of Texas to finish up, although I'm not quite sure what my degree will be in. Nevertheless, my mother is ecstatic that I'm simply enrolled in school.

Avandia & Drew Carey

Michael Smith Blog - Know The Cause Has anyone else been following the Avandia story? In the last six weeks I've moved from Dallas to Austin to start school again, and I had lost track of the story, but I thought surely it would be a closed case by now. The perpetrator is currently under psychiatric surveillance, and while 23 year old Evan Sachs has no criminal record, he is on five different medications.

Supplements - What is the Source?

Michael Smith Blog - Know The Cause The other day, I picked up a dietary supplement from a chain drugstore touting itself as an "effervescent health formula." (Side note, the author had to look up the definition of effervescent.) It was accompanied by the FDA disclaimer found on most supplements, stating that, "This product has neither been evaluated nor tested by the FDA and is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease."

Old Adages and Nutritional Wisdom

Michael Smith Blog - Know The Cause Happy Halloween everyone! I thought I'd give you a break from dispensing candy to trick-or-treaters and give you some Phase 1 food for thought. (Hmmm… that sounds like it could become a regular column title. I'll have to see if Doug has trademarked it yet…)
