Fungus Mistaken For Cancer

Doug Kaufmann Arizona is called “Valley Fever Corridor” because its vast expanse is home to a soil and sand borne fungus called Coccidioides immitus.  About 10,000 Arizonians discover just how dangerous this fungus is.  According to a local physician, however, it is “vastly under-diagnosed.”  Dr. John Galgiani, who is the Director of Valley Fever Excellence at the University of Arizona feels that the actual number of Coccidioides fungal infections is probably closer to 30,000 cases, not 10,000.

What About Bob?

Doug Kaufmann

Have you ever seen the movie, “What About Bob?”  Within 2 hours, this movie did what few ever do.  In their attempt to show what stress does to a seemingly normal psychiatrist, instead the producers proved that the psychiatrist, more so than the patient, truly needed psychiatric help.

Drugs For The Masses!

Doug Kaufmann

In an earlier communication, I blogged about then CEO of Merck Pharmaceutical Company’s Henry Gadsden, telling Fortune Magazine that his one regret was that pharmaceutical companies could only sell their wares to sick people.  What Gadsden wanted, was to be more like Wrigley’s gum because gum could be sold to sick and well alike.
